Prisca Chen

LAc, Dipl OM, FABORM, Mei Zen Preferred Provider

With a patient-centered approach rooted in compassion, education, and empowerment, Prisca Chen believes that the more you understand your body, the more control you have over your health. As a licensed acupuncturist and board-certified specialist in Oriental Medicine and reproductive health, she collaborates with patients and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive, integrative care at every stage of their wellness journey.

Prisca specializes in reproductive health and fertility, supporting individuals and couples with holistic treatments that optimize their chances of conception and overall well-being. However, her expertise extends far beyond fertility—she is passionate about helping patients manage a wide range of health concerns, always advocating for their best possible care.

A self-proclaimed food lover, Prisca enjoys guiding patients on how to use nutrition as medicine, often spending hours discussing how diet and lifestyle can transform health. Whether it’s herbal therapy, acupuncture, or other Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) modalities, she tailors treatments to fit each individual’s needs, always with an emphasis on empowering patients through knowledge.

Her journey into acupuncture was a deeply personal one. While preparing for medical school at UC Santa Cruz, Prisca realized how integral Traditional Chinese Medicine was to her own well-being. A last-minute decision to shift from Western medicine to TCM school changed the course of her life, allowing her to practice medicine in a more holistic, patient-centered way. From recovering from motor-vehicle accidents to managing family health challenges, acupuncture has played a transformative role in her life—one that she is now honored to share with others.

Prisca is excited to support you on your path to wellness and looks forward to guiding you toward optimal health.

Prisca Chen is ABORM-Certified

One of Only Seven ABORM-Certified Acupuncturists in New York City

When an acupuncturist is ABORM-certified, it means they have earned certification from the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM). This credential indicates that the practitioner has advanced training and expertise in treating fertility and reproductive health concerns using acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

ABORM certification is a mark of excellence for acupuncturists who specialize in fertility, reproductive health, and pregnancy support. Here is what ABORM certification signifies:

  • Specialized Knowledge: The acupuncturist has in-depth knowledge of reproductive medicine, including both Western and Eastern approaches. This includes understanding fertility cycles, assisted reproductive technologies (like IVF and IUI), and how TCM can support them.
  • Rigorous Exam: To become certified, the practitioner must pass a comprehensive board exam that covers reproductive anatomy, endocrinology, infertility diagnosis, and relevant acupuncture techniques.
  • Ongoing Education: ABORM-certified acupuncturists are expected to continue learning and staying current with developments in both Western reproductive medicine and Chinese medicine.
  • Collaboration with Medical Professionals: ABORM practitioners work closely with fertility clinics, reproductive endocrinologists, and OB/GYNs to support integrative care for people trying to conceive.
